I know for some, 7 miles is a warm-up or shake-out run, but for me - it was my longest run so far.
Last Saturday morning started out with a few hits of the snooze button. I was kind of nervous for this run, so that resulted in me stalling a tad in the morning. Unfortunately, this run would have to be done on the treadmill. If you have read any of my previous posts the past few weeks, then you know it has been down right FRIGID in my neck of the woods.
On normal running days, I usually wake-up and go run - without eating or drinking anything except for a glass of water. This day was different, because it was going to be a longer run for me, I decided to have a Larabar with my water.
I took my iPad and set it up on the display of the treadmill so I could watch a few previous sermon videos. It turned out to be a great idea. The run went well.. surprisingly well actually. I felt great the entire time, although mile 6 was probably my toughest, mentally. I felt so accomplished and glad I completed it. I took it slow (about 65 minutes), but that didn't matter to me. I just wanted to finish it!
Post-run went like this:
Click Espresso Vanilla Protein Drink + water
Half of a banana + PRO Compression
The rest of the morning looked something like this... coffee + coffee + coffee
Then lunchtime came and this happened:
I celebrated my longest run ever with a visit to the Whole Foods salad bar. If I am really being honest though, I never need an excuse to hit up the best salad bar in town!
I won't bore you with the details of the rest of my day, but I will say, I think I filled up this bad boy about 100 times. Not really, but you get the point. Needed to make sure I was staying hydrated :)
Next long run is 8 miles - woop woop!
How many miles is your longest run ever?
