Week 4 of my half marathon training plan is complete!
The bitter cold has not gone away yet, so again, this week's training was inside. The 7 miles on Saturday was the longest distance I have ever run, so it felt awesome to complete it - even if it was on a treadmill. So far, it doesn't look like I will be getting outside this week either (I hope I am wrong). The low today is -11 and the high is 3 degrees. Tomorrow is a low of -17 and the high is 0 degrees. Yikes.
The 5k race will kick off the training series for the half marathon, and that is on Saturday... outside. It should be interesting, but hopefully it will warm up by then!
Here is what week 4 of my training looked like:
Tuesday: 3 mile run
Wednesday: 4 mile run + chest press, overhead press, fly, lat pull down (4 sets of 12 each)
Thursday: 3 mile run + 8 minute ab circuit
Saturday: 7 mile run
Sunday: cross training: 60 minutes walking
I like this piece of inspiration from Runner's World because of course we can apply it to training, but I think we can also apply it to many parts of life. Sometimes we have doubt in ourselves, but in the end, the best feeling is when you realize you were stronger and more capable than you ever thought possible!
Make it a great week!
