Organization can be intimidating to some people, especially if you aren't sure where to start. I have always thought of myself as an organized person, sometimes to a fault, and when my husband and I got married and moved into our new home I vowed to keep us as organized as possible. I mean how hard could it be, right?
Boy was I in for surprise!
I found out the hard way that with how busy our lives can get it is easy to get behind on keeping things in order. So, I have decided to share a few tips that have helped things run smoothly in our home and I hope they can help you too!
Step 1 - Bathroom: We purchased a shelving unit that stands over our toilet in the master bathroom. On the shelves we have baskets to hold our most used toiletry items. I also have 2 hooks on the wall where I can hang my curling iron and straightener - two things I use almost daily. This helps to eliminate our bathroom counter top clutter. (I still need to figure something out for those cords!)
Some other ideas for organizing the bathroom are:
- Install a magnetic strip inside a cabinet and hang tweezers and nail clippers from it.
- Throw away old or unused items in your bathroom, such as makeup, lotions, old razors, sunscreen and perfume. Return old medications (including prescriptions) to your local pharmacy for safe disposal.
- Install hooks on a wall or the back of your bathroom door for towels and robes.
- Use drawer organizers for makeup, jewelry, ponytail holders and other loose items. Plastic silverware trays, found in the kitchen aisle, are inexpensive and will work just fine.
