For many of us, with the new year comes new goals. I am no different. A main goal I chose to attack was to have fun while working out. Crazy, right?!
I grew up being an athlete, and I remember how much fun I used to have playing sports and working out with my teammates. After the team sports were over, it was difficult for me to continue activities on my own. Therefore, I decided I wanted to try new workouts that I ENJOYED! (While still trying to burn maximum calories and build strength, of course).
Not only did I enjoy my first Spinning class, I fell in love with it.
Yes, some days my legs dread it and some instructors are better than others, but after each class I walk away dripping of sweat and feeling good about myself. All in all, spinning has become one of my favorite workouts. With a combination of the motivating instructors, the invigorating music, and the feeling of accomplishment I get afterward, I keep going back for more because I ENJOY the benefits of the vigorous workout and the time spent in the class.
If you've been curious, like I was, about trying out a Spinning class here are a few things you should know:
What: Spinning is an exercise that is done on a specific stationary bicycle, called a Spinning bicycle (go figure). Instructors will lead the class by playing music throughout the workout phases. Phases might include: warm-up, sprints, climbs, cool-down, etc.
Who: Anyone can benefit from a Spinning class! Because you are in control of the resistance on the bike, you are in control of your workout.
Where: Spinning classes are usually held in fitness studios or gyms.
What you need: Comfortable workout clothes, a sweat towel, and a water bottle.
Have you tried a Spinning class? If so, what did you think?
