I am obsessed with burlap, even when it comes to my Christmas decor. This Christmas, we will be visiting family out of town, so we didn't want to go all out on the Christmas decorating this year. Putting up the outside lights even got left off the list this year. With traveling for a good amount of December, it just made sense to go lighter on the decorations.
We decorated the main living areas on the first floor, and that's it. I didn't have to buy a single new thing because we could use things we had packed away in our Christmas storage totes.
We used burlap around the Christmas tree last year, and loved it so much, that we decided to reuse it this year. I just love this look, and I think it looks great in our living room. In addition to the burlap, we added white lights and red, gold, and silver Christmas ball ornaments.
We also hung our stockings up in the foyer. there are just 2 of us (3 including, Leo, our pup), but we were gifted additional stockings in past years, so I can't help but hang them all :) (also, for those of you who know me well, the stockings being off center drives me crazy! haha)
Last year, I used some decorative Christmas balls in a glass bowl for a centerpiece. This year, I took those same balls and put them in a large Ball jar (which I had in the cupboard). We thought it was a nice little touch of Christmas to add to the TV stand. I also took some extra burlap and twisted it with silver garland to add a little more Christmas cheer :)
I first bought this wreath (below) a year or so ago - and I LOVE it. The wreath itself is actually just brown twigs, and then each season or holiday I can add flowers or different decor to the wreath - so I can switch them out whenever I want to. This December, I added some holly-look-alike-garland that I found stored away. I just used the stems or pointier parts of the holly to stick it into the wreath. When I get tired of it, I can easily switch it out with something different since it is not permanently attached to the wreath.
Last but not least is the poinsettia. I grew up having a poinsettia or two in my parents' house around the holidays, so I always have to add this in somewhere. I found this cute mini one and thought it would be the perfect addition.
So there you have it - the easiest Christmas decor I think I have ever done. It might not seem like much this year, but we love it!
Anyone else keeping it light on the decorations this year?
