I have had high hopes of a plentiful garden in my backyard for a year or two now. Unfortunately, with the poor quality of our soil, we have come to the conclusion that not much will be able to grow well. So, we have added a raised garden bed to our list of things to build :) We might even go with the raised garden kits you can buy. This will most likely be a project for next year.
After a friend of mine gave me some already grown mint, I decided to try planting a couple other things.. basil and tomatoes. I love using the mint in my water and hot tea. I even found a few recipes to try using fresh mint. I use lots of basil and tomatoes, so they just seemed like the best picks for now.
Some might say I took the easy way out, but for my first time planting, I decided to go the Seed Pod™ route.
They were super easy to plant - as you can see from the instructions below.
How to Plant:
1. Remove entire lid from Seed Pod™.
2. Choose a sunny spot.
3. Push Seed Pod™ into loosened soil until pod top is level with soil's surface.
4. There is no need to cover the pod with soil.
5. Space Seed Pods™ 12" apart.
6. Keep Seed Pod™ moist.
This is what my 'plentiful' garden looks like as of now :) It's not much, but I am excited to have started, no matter how small. I won't see any germination for another month or so, but you better believe I check them out on a daily basis!
Any gardeners out there have any tips for me for when I am ready to start my garden?
