Before you go running off at the notion of cooking or eating brussels sprouts, you must give this recipe a try! I have always liked brussels sprouts, but my husband was a little more hesitant. Recently, we went to a restaurant and we ordered brussels sprouts to share. Three days later, Josh was still raving about how good they were! I was determined to make my own brussels sprouts that he would love. Sure enough, this recipe did the trick!
This workout got me good! Honestly though, any time there are thrusters involved, I am in for it. For this workout, you are going to set your timer for 10 minutes. Then, start with 80 jump ropes, followed by 3 thrusters. Then go back to 80 jump rope, followed by 6 thrusters, and continue that pattern, increasing the number of thrusters by 3 each time until the 10 minutes is up. For the thrusters, use whatever weight you are comfortable with. I used 45 pounds on my barbell. You could also use dumbbells if you prefer.
In case you are unfamiliar with what a thruster is, check out this video:

I know there are a lot of people out there who do not think you can get a good workout done in just 9 minutes. I get it, I really do. I have learned a lot from the Crossfit community as well as HIIT and circuit training enthusiasts. I follow the premise of switching up my workouts and I strive to keep my muscles guessing. In my opinion, if you push yourself to your limits and use heavier weights when applicable, you will be convinced you got in a good workout after just 9 minutes. I challenge you to read up and research more on high intensity interval training and Crossfit workouts. I am always learning new things and love sharing them here on my blog!
For this workout, set your timer for 9 minutes, and complete as many rounds as possible before the timer hit zero. Continuously do rounds of 5 burpess, 10 jump squats, and 15 kettle bell swings until the 9 minutes are up. Go as fast as you can throughout the time and kick some butt!
I am obsessed with this oversized cardigan. It is technically classified as an open front poncho, but you get the idea. Whatever you want to call it, it is comfy! We recently had a party at our house - very low key - just some friends hanging out. So, this was the perfect outfit option to be comfy around the house, but still stylish throughout the evening. It is definitely a go-to for me, and it should be for you to!

I love doing this workout first thing in the morning. It really gets me going and keeps me going the rest of the day. Do 4 rounds of 16 weighted walking lunges, 12 push ups, 10 situps. Keep going through the movements until you have completed 4 rounds. So in total you will end up doing 64 walking lunges, 48 push ups, and 40 sit ups. Use whatever weight you are comfortable with for the walking lunges. I suggest working through this with a challenging weight for the lunges - and going through the rounds as fast as possible to get the most out of this great workout!
My neighorhood recently started passing around a traveling treat plate. So, when you receive the plate of goodies from a neighbor, it is then your turn to make a treat and take it to the next neighbor. A fun way to get to know your neighbors! I received the plate last week, so I decided to make these Christmas Sugar Cookie Truffles to pass onto another neighbor.
I had never made them before, but they ended up being so easy to make, and a lot of fun too. Something different! There are hardly any ingredients to buy, just four things, assuming you don't have any of them already. I was really happy with the way they turned out. I actually made a few batches. I sent a batch along with Josh to work for his employees to snack on - trying to help him be a cool boss :) We are having a party at our house soon, so I ended up making some for that too. Hopefully everyone likes them as much as Josh and I did - of course we had to taste test!
- 12 sugar cookies, baked
- 3 tablespoons cream cheese (room temperature)
- 2 cups white chocolate for melting
- sprinkles for decoration
1. Place sugar cookies in a food processor and process until cookies turn into fine crumbs.
2. Add cream cheese and process again until well-combined and mixture can be pressed into a ball.
3. Shape mixture into 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Place cookie sheet in freezer for 15 minutes - or in the regrigerator for 1 hour.
5. In a medium bowl, melt white chocolate according to instructions on package.
6. Remove the cookie balls from freezer. Using a spoon dip and roll chilled cookie balls - one at a time - in melted white chocolate. Return to lined cookie sheet, and immediately top with sprinkles.
7. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Recipe makes about 18 truffles.

I think I mentioned this in my last pajama post, but I just love a good pair of PJs. Especially when they are comfy, but yet stylish. I think around the holidays and as the nights get cooler, cuddling up with the fam around the fire, watching movies, drinking cocoa.. all of that is so much better in a good pair of PJs :) Not to mention, I think pajamas are the one of the best gifts to give! You can really give them to almost anyone on your list - and I love receiving pajamas as a gift too.
Below are just a few of my favorite pajama sets that you might want to check out for yourself or a gal on your shopping list. You can shop for these items directly by clicking on the icons below!
