I always get a little (ok, more than a little) excited when it comes to picking out an outfit for any occasion. Some might call it stressful, and that can be true too, but I just love trying new ideas and putting together an outfit that I feel great it.
For those of you who might need some inspiration or ideas for your Thanksgiving day outfit, I thought this post might help. Start thinking ahead so you are not scrambling at the last minute!
If it is not too cold, you could go for the shirt dress pictured above. The fit would be loose enough that you could still fill up on your favorites foods :) Plaid scarves and vests are IN, so why not put them all together, and tie the outfit up with a pair of riding boots.
The second outfit idea is pretty close to what I will be wearing. Jeans on Thanksgiving will not be the most overeating-friendly, i know, I know. BUT that is kind of the point for me! I don't want to go too crazy on the food. Don't worry, the jeans will be stretchy :)
This next outfit is on point with the flannel and the faux fur. I love mixing the two. Thanksgiving day would be a perfect time for this look!
Again, if it is not too cold where you are, going with a classy skirt would be fab. Then, you could even dress it down a tad with chambray, a vest, and boots. Hello Fall! As I am writing this, I might have just changed my mind on which outfit I will be wearing... eek!
Everyone's Thanksgiving day is totally different, but I hope these collages helped inspire you and your outfit. However you spend the holiday, I hope you enjoy it!

I was stoked to receive a few of Barbell Babes top selling workout shirts. If you have not heard of Barbell Babes, I suggest you familiarize yourself! For all you babes out there, listen up...
Barbell Babes is a lifestyle brand and online community to help empower women to break boundaries in all types of fitness.
Based out of Washington, DC, Barbell Babes was founded in February 2014 by Tiffany Kay Tam. As a former CrossFitter and new Olympic weightlifter, she searched the internet for role models and realized the lack of celebration for all body types. Overwhelmed by the amount of "booty pics" and six-packs, she created Barbell Babes, a safe space for women of all shapes and sizes. She believes that all women deserve to be celebrated for her accomplishments no matter how far in their fitness journey.
To Tiffany, being a 'Barbell Babe' means to break the norms of society and be proud of who you are. We are all human. Just because you don't look a certain way yet doesn't mean you have to beat yourself up for it.
How amazing?! I love supporting a company that stands for something I can truly relate to. I am all for celebrating women - all women - and so you best believe I will be repping my new Barbell Babes tops with pride!

If you have been reading my blog, then you know I am a HUGE fan of crockpot meals. Today, I am sharing a recipe I made in the crockpot for the first time. I have seen this type of recipe with the pork chops being pan fried, but I wanted to give it a shot in the good ole crockpot.
It turned out to be very good! Next time, I might not add the tomatoes until the pork chops have been cooked a little bit first, but either way, we ate it all up!
4 boneless pork chops
1 T olive oil
5 cloves of garlic, diced
2 cups fresh tomatoes, diced (include all juice)
1 onion, diced
2 t oregano
1 tsp sage
1 tsp basil
Place pork chops in crockpot, and cover with other ingredients. Cook on low for about 4 hours. This was for 4 thin, boneless pork chops. Adjust cook time as needed. Just be careful about overcooking with the tomatoes.
I served this dish with zucchini chopped and cooked in olive oil with seasoning. So delicious!

I recently read an article that really stuck with me, and I thought it would be perfect to share. Keep in mind, this is not my writing, so I have noted the source below. It was just too good not to post!
Article from: Wanderlust.com By Zuzu Perkal:
Inside yoga and meditation’s astounding ability to rewire our brains for the better.
The things we think and the things we do have a dynamic impact on our brain, our attitudes, and ultimately our reality. My father always reminded me of the power of positive thinking and the philosophy of creating my own reality. He taught me that it all starts with the things we tell ourselves and the way we handle situations. Yoga has helped embed this mindset into my daily practice and life.
I began researching the effects of yoga and positive thinking on the brain. I hope these findings inspire you to slow down, enjoy each moment like it’s your last, and to breathe.
A Stressed Mind = Stressed Muscles = Negative and Anxious Thoughts
A Calm Mind = Relaxed Muscles = Positive and Uplifting Thoughts
We are conditioned to think, feel, and react the way that we do when life starts to pour down on us. It’s natural to be tough on ourselves and continually search for external solutions. But here’s the good news: You already possess all the power, skill, and necessary components needed to completely alter the way your brain works, thus all the power needed to change your life for the better!
If the endless bookshelves of self-help books, millions of online quotes, and thousand-dollar seminars aren’t enough prove the importance of happy thoughts, deep breathing, and learning to de-stress and slow down, maybe the scientific evidence will persuade you to make some small changes that come with life-long effects.
Think about this: Our thoughts and actions actually change the chemical composition of the brain. When we practice deep, slow breathing, relax our muscles, and think positive thoughts, we are actually rewiring the brain.
Alex Korb, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience at UCLA who studies how yoga affects stress and the brain. He shares with Psychology Today that “the specific thoughts you have may differ, but the brain regions involved and the physiological response will be the same. The physiological stress response means an increase in heart rate, breathing rate, muscle tension, and elevation of cortisol and other stress hormones.” Sounds familiar, right?
Our current response to stress feels natural and hard to combat, because they are habits that most likely were picked up when you were young, witnessing your parents’ responses to stress. By the time we become adults we have absorbed these same habits. Our brain currently knows how to react to stress, love, challenge, and struggle. It is referred to as “our response factor.”
More good news! We can alter our “response factor” and break away from old habits that impair us from being the best versions of ourselves. The secret: yoga and meditation!
The Yoga Connection
Yoga is all about taking what we learn on the mat (all the things we’ve discussed here today: deep breathing, softening muscles, clearing the mind, and enjoying the present moment) and bringing it into our daily lives. These are the techniques that break bad habits, eliminate negativity, and diminish stress, studies have found.
In addition, the powerful effects of meditation on the brain are often subjects of medical studies and new scientific research is released daily about the practice’s neurological benefits. Yoga and meditation decrease stress, depression, and anxiety while increasing happiness and the overall quality of life.
Take ten minutes every day to meditate, bringing your focus inward. It’s super simple—just breathe. Sign up for a yoga class in your local community or deepen your current practice. Big changes don’t happen overnight and habits don’t change instantaneously. Stick with it for a month and watch your life transform. Remember, think positive thoughts, take deep slow breaths, and let your muscles (especially the shoulders and jaw) relax. Love your yoga brain!
