Burpees seem to fall under the category of 'love to hate' for most people. I remember when I coached a youth soccer team, one of the things they hated most was doing burpees. I have actually learned to love them, and this post will explain a few reasons why.
First of all, there are several different types of burpees. Some include a plank, others have a full push up, a tuck jump, or even a pull up at the end. There are tons of ways to modify burpess as well.
Here is how I do a burpee:
Why are burpees the best?
1- They work your entire body. Burpees are a full body exercise, as opposed to an isolation exercise. Working more muscles at one time during an exercise burns more calories in less time.
2. You can do them anywhere. Burpess do not require any equipment, so all you need is your own body. That means you can do burpees while traveling, at home. outside, at the office, anywhere!
3. They boost your endurance. Burpees are great for helping to boost your endurance while training for a race or other sports. Just 10 burpees in a row will make your heart pound and your breath get quicker. Doing them consistently will help your conditioning level skyrocket.
4. They are a great addition to any workout. Burpees are a dynamic, fast-paced, never-boring exercise, and a perfect addition to any workout!
